A contract lab based in Saint Joseph, Missouri, CIA Labs has used Matrix Gemini LIMS to eliminate paperwork and drive efficiencies across the business. Automation has streamlined their approval process, reduced the burden of paperwork, and improved their overall turn-around times.

Background

CIA Labs is an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). All pharmaceutical work is performed in compliance with cGMPs. They have a broad range of Instrumentation available including HPLC, GC, AAS, IR, Dissolution, and Karl Fischer Water Determination, along with other instrumental and wet chemistry analysis. CIA Labs can perform a broad range of analytical testing and is capable of developing and validating specialist test methods for most chemical analysis requirements.

CHALLENGES

  • Increasing volume of business
  • Automating paper records to increase efficiency
  • Gathering result data to create Certificates of Results manually

SOLUTION

RESULTS

  • Total turnaround time of samples dramatically reduced
  • Paperwork bottlenecks eliminated
  • Certificates of Analysis now automatically created
  • Making further configuration changes to the system in-house

“Autoscribe support is always available should I have questions or issues; their team is always friendly and helpful.”

CIA Labs

As a contract laboratory CIA tests samples on behalf of customers across the United States and beyond. One key area is completing USP (United States Pharmacopeia) monographs and assays to support pharmaceutical industry submissions to the FDA. These provide a detailed breakdown of the ingredients used to determine whether a medicine meets key quality attributes and can, therefore, be marketed legally within the USA. Among other areas of testing, they also perform EPA (US Environmental Protection Agency) required studies for registration of agricultural chemicals in compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards. This includes testing of the physical and chemical properties of the product, and product stability studies requiring storage and subsequent testing of products kept under different environmental conditions for various periods of time Their experienced, and highly trained chemists also undertake a wide variety of bespoke testing for clients. To support this work, they perform liquid and gas chromatography analysis, ultra-violet absorption tests, general instrument tests, and a wide variety of wet chemistry analysis.
